Founded in 2004, we are a family-run, female-led business that began by selling furniture in Tredegar, South Wales. In 2005, we expanded to Blackwood, Caerphilly, where we opened a two-story retail store in the former Bier Keller, adding a broader selection of homeware alongside our furniture range.

In 2007, the UK credit crunch presented significant challenges, prompting us to pivot our focus. As furniture sales slowed, we expanded into gifts, jewelry, cards, women’s fashion accessories, soft toys, and homeware, transforming into a trusted local destination for unique and thoughtful products.

In 2012, we introduced Number 5 The Tea Room, providing a cozy spot for customers to enjoy afternoon tea, cakes, coffee, and snacks, enhancing our community atmosphere. That same year, we went online with KismetBlackwood.co.uk now offering nearly 3,000 products from top brands like Jellycat, Nomination Italy, UNOde50, Katie Loxton, Joma London, and Powder Designs.

During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019-2020, we faced unprecedented challenges, as did many small businesses. We adapted by strengthening our online presence and offering delivery options, allowing our customers to continue shopping for essentials, gifts, and home comforts from the safety of their homes. This shift helped us reach a wider audience and reinforced our commitment to supporting our community in times of need.
